Whistleblowers: Software Bug Keeping Hundreds Of Inmates In Arizona Prisons Beyond Release Dates
    https://kjzz.org/content/1660988/whistleblowers-software-bug-keeping-hundreds-inmates-arizona-prisons-beyond-release
According to Arizona Department of Corrections whistleblowers, hundreds of incarcerated people who should be eligible for release are being held in prison because the inmate management software cannot interpret current sentencing laws.KJZZ is not naming the whistleblowers because they fear retaliation. The employees said they have been raising the issue internally for more than a year, but prison administrators have not acted to fix the software bug. The sources said Chief Information Officer Holly Greene and Deputy Director Joe Profiri have been aware of the problem since 2019.

    Why 'Fake' Snow 'Doesn't Melt'--Because It's Real
    https://www.popsci.com/article/science/why-fake-snow-doesnt-melt-because-its-real/
After a snowstorm hit Atlanta and a good portion of the Eastern Seaboard last week, snarling traffic and stranding many, rumors circulated that it wasn't snow. Some said that it was FAKE snow, either deposited via chemtrails, or made up of psychoactive substances, or nanobots. (If I had nanobots, I wouldn't waste them by spreading them haphazardly over Atlanta. I'd pick Bavaria, so I could infiltrate the Illuminati.)

Someone Replaced the Toppled Harvey Scott Statue at Mount Tabor With a Monument to York, the Only Black Member of the Corps of Discovery
    https://www.wweek.com/arts/visual-arts/2021/02/20/someone-replaced-the-toppled-harvey-scott-statue-at-mount-tabor-with-a-monument-to-york-the-only-black-member-of-the-corps-of-discovery/
An unknown artist has replaced the statue of Harvey Scott toppled by protesters in Mount Tabor Park last year with a bust of the only Black member of the Lewis and Clark expedition. In October, a statue of Scott, the editor-in-chief of The Oregonian from the 1870s through the beginning of the 20th century, was among several monuments in Portland torn down amid protests against racial injustice. Scott was a vocal opponent of women's suffrage, and the statue was a frequent target for vandalism prior to being removed. Seemingly overnight, however, a new statue has appeared on the pedestal at the top of Mount Tabor where Scott once stood—that of York, an enslaved man who became the first African American to cross North America as part of the Corps of Discovery.

What’s in a surname? The female artists lost to history because they got married
    https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2021/feb/13/whats-in-a-surname-the-female-artists-lost-to-history-because-they-got-married
Generations of female artists, composers and writers have been lost to history because their names changed after marriage. According to growing academic consensus, the conventional switch of surnames at the altar has erased a key cultural legacy. And the story of the painter and designer Isabel Rawsthorne, told in a new biography, is among the first to make this powerful argument.

Donald Trump Jr hits out ‘Democrat governor’ of Texas... who is actually Republican
    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-jr-texas-democrat-governor-b1804871.html
In an attempt to defend Ted Cruz for going on vacation as Texas struggled with the aftermath of Winter storm Uri, Donald Trump Jr appeared to get one important detail wrong in accusing the lawmaker’s critics of hypocrisy. The senator for Texas is being eviscerated by the public and media after it emerged he had taken his family to Cancun, Mexico, as his constituents endured record cold temperatures with no heat, power, or water, The eldest son of former president Donald Trump took to Twitter and hit out at “the hypocrisy of those trying to cancel Ted Cruz,” adding that their silence “on their Democrat Governor’s incompetence is telling.” Unfortunately for Mr Trump, and as many Texans were quick to point out, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is a Republican and was chair of the Republican Governor’s Association from 2019 to 2020.

Manchin Announces Opposition To Tanden, Likely Killing Her Nom As OMB Head
    https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/neera-tanden-joe-manchin
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced Friday that he is opposed to the confirmation of Neera Tanden to lead the The Office of Management and Budget. In a statement, Manchin said that the “overtly partisan” statements that Tanden had made about lawmakers on both sides of the aisle would have a “toxic and detrimental impact” on her ability to work with Congress in the role. ... Her apology for the tweets during her confirmation hearings was apparently not enough for Manchin, who broke party line to approve President Trump’s appointees, including in his vote to confirm twitter troll Ric Grenell as Trump’s ambassador to Germany.

Suspected Oath Keepers are charged in a plot to attack the Capitol.
    https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/02/19/us/joe-biden-news/suspected-oath-keepers-are-charged-in-a-plot-to-attack-the-capitol
The Justice Department brought charges on Friday against six people suspected of being members of the Oath Keepers, a right-wing militia group, adding new defendants to a case that had already accused the group of an organized plot to attack the Capitol on Jan. 6. The charges, filed in Federal District Court in Washington, accused Kelly Meggs, the self-described leader of the Oath Keepers’ Florida chapter, and his wife, Connie, of joining four other militia members, including a married couple from Ohio, in a “stack” of Oath Keepers who ascended a flight of stairs outside the Capitol and then breached the building. The group of six, court papers say, worked with three Oath Keepers who were charged last month: Thomas E. Caldwell, Jessica M. Watkins and Donovan Crowl. The new indictment against the nine Oath Keepers is the most significant evidence to date that far-right extremists worked in advance to try to prevent Congress from certifying President Biden’s victory on Jan. 6 and help former President Donald J. Trump stay in power. In late December, prosecutors say, Mr. Meggs, 52, referred on Facebook to a tweet in which Mr. Trump predicted that a rally in Washington on Jan. 6 to protest the results of the election would be “wild.”
