Japan has appointed a "Minister of Loneliness" to take try and reduce loneliness and social isolation among its residents as the country deals with rising suicide rates, Tomohiro Osaki reported for the Japan Times. Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga appointed Tetsushi Sakamoto, who is already a minister in charge of dealing with Japan's declining birthrate and promoting regional revitalization, to oversee government policies to deal with loneliness and isolation, earlier this month. Prime Minister Suga chose Sakamoto as his Minister for economic revitalization when he was elected in September 2020. Strangers took in a delivery driver for 5 days after she was stranded in the Texas storm
    https://www.kmov.com/news/strangers-took-in-a-delivery-driver-for-5-days-after-she-was-stranded-in-the/article_2e204cab-c4ff-54c3-b527-17f849fa9c97.html
When a delivery driver's car began sliding down on an icy Texas driveway, the driver closed her eyes, praying she wouldn't hit the client's home. She didn't hit the house but Chelsea Timmons' car crushed a flowerbed outside an Austin, Texas, home as a snowstorm paralyzed the state last Sunday. She didn't know it yet, but she would soon be grateful to end up in this particular driveway. Homeowners Doug Condon and Nina Richardson checked on Timmons to try to help get her Toyota Rav4 up the driveway, but it was stuck. They invited her to wait for a tow truck inside their home.

Dominion Voting Sues MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell For Defamation Over Election Conspiracy
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2021/02/22/dominion-voting-sues-mypillow-ceo-mike-lindell-for-defamation-over-election-conspiracy/
Dominion Voting Systems filed a lawsuit Monday against MyPillow and its CEO Mike Lindell for defamation after the Trump ally spread baseless claims about the company’s voting machines, the latest in a string of high-dollar lawsuits Dominion has waged against right-wing figures who spread conspiracy theories about election fraud. The $1.3 billion lawsuit alleges Lindell “sells the lie” involving the company’s voting machines “because the lie sells pillows,” despite the “unprecedented reputational and financial harm” Dominion has suffered as a result. MyPillow sponsored rallies that pushed election fraud claims, offered discount codes related to the conspiracy theory and advertised on right-wing news networks where the claims were being pushed, the lawsuit notes, alleging Lindell “knowingly lied about Dominion to sell more pillows to people who continued tuning in to hear what they wanted to hear about the election.” Dominion also accuses Lindell of deceptive trade practices in addition to defamation because he lied so MyPillow could derive “financial benefits from making those false statements,” and notes Lindell’s election fraud campaign sold copies of his book and raised the likelihood that former President Donald Trump would endorse his potential run for governor of Minnesota. Dominion had previously sent Lindell three letters warning of potential litigation after he started spreading the conspiracy theory, saying his “smear campaign against Dominion has been relentless” and harmed the company, and suggested he would likely be sued for defamation. Lindell doubled down on his attacks against Dominion in response to their threats, releasing a documentary pushing his election fraud claims that included allegations about their voting machines, despite the company sending Lindell a letter that detailed “red flags” about a report Lindell relied upon to demonstrate the purported election fraud. Lindell and his documentary have “failed to make any real evidence available for public scrutiny,” the lawsuit alleges, and the CEO has instead “put forward fake evidence and sought to enrich himself even more by claiming that he is the victim of ‘cancel culture’ and that Dominion wants to hide the truth.”
