Old People Elected Trump. Will They Make Him a One-Term President?
    https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/09/trump-old-voters-support-biden.html
The Post analysis couldn’t divine from the data a verifiable reason that Biden has a higher floor with white seniors against Trump than Clinton or Sanders did. Is it because he’s perceived as more moderate than the others? Because he’s a moderate white man? Because he says things, in the year 2020, like, “Look, the carny show’s gone through town once, and they found out there’s no pea under any of the three shells”?

British Military Prepares for Climate-Fueled Resource Shortages
    https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/ep4w5j/british-military-prepares-for-climate-fueled-resource-shortages
This model, which has significantly influenced government thinking around climate mitigation, sees 3.5°C as a desirable goal for international climate policy. But rather than aiming for climate safety, its goal is “economic efficiency.” The idea is that it is better to ensure GDP growth now even if this locks-in dangerous warming, because this will mean that future generations will have far more wealth and therefore greater capacity to respond to climate catastrophe.

Evidence Mounts That BLM Works With Demons
    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/09/evidence-mounts-blm-works-demons/
Defenders of Black Lives Matter claim the organization is “spiritual.” No doubt about that. It’s spiritual, alright. But demons are spirits, too. “Spiritual” is not the same as “Godly,” and there’s mounting evidence that BLM’s founders consort with evil spirits. In a guest post on The Gateway Pundit, I recently reported that Antifa/BLM rioters appear to benefit from preternatural (demonic) intelligence. People often surrender rights over their minds and bodies in exchange for hidden knowledge from demons. Now, we know that BLM co-founders admit to occultist practices. Specifically, Black Lives Matter co-founder Melina Abdula described BLM’s regular practice of necromancy, a significant cause of demonic oppression and possession, according to Adam C. Blai, Religious Demonologist for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Labor Board Finds Merit That Kickstarter Illegally Fired Union Organizer - VICE
    https://www.vice.com/amp/en_us/article/wxqawn/labor-board-finds-merit-that-kickstarter-illegally-fired-union-organizer?__twitter_impression=true
The NLRB findings supporting the allegation that Kickstarter illegally fired one of those former employees, Taylor Moore, for his participation in the union drive, could serve as a powerful deterrent to other tech companies that consider pushing back against employee efforts to unionize. Two prior charges against Kickstarter have been withdrawn by Kickstarter's union, and a third charge is still pending, according to Kickstarter and Moore's attorney.

Pro-Trump youth group enlists teens in secretive campaign likened to a ‘troll farm,’ prompting rebuke by Facebook and Twitter
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/turning-point-teens-disinformation-trump/2020/09/15/c84091ae-f20a-11ea-b796-2dd09962649c_story.html
One tweet claimed coronavirus numbers were intentionally inflated, adding, “It’s hard to know what to believe.” Another warned, “Don’t trust Dr. Fauci.” A Facebook comment argued that mail-in ballots “will lead to fraud for this election,” while an Instagram comment amplified the erroneous claim that 28 million ballots went missing in the past four elections. The messages have been emanating in recent months from the accounts of young people in Arizona seemingly expressing their own views — standing up for President Trump in a battleground state and echoing talking points from his reelection campaign. Far from representing a genuine social media groundswell, however, the posts are the product of a sprawling yet secretive campaign that experts say evades the guardrails put in place by social media companies to limit online disinformation of the sort used by Russia during the 2016 campaign. Teenagers, some of them minors, are being paid to pump out the messages at the direction of Turning Point Action, an affiliate of Turning Point USA, the prominent conservative youth organization based in Phoenix, according to four people with independent knowledge of the effort. Their descriptions were confirmed by detailed notes from relatives of one of the teenagers who recorded conversations with him about the efforts. The campaign draws on the spam-like behavior of bots and trolls, with the same or similar language posted repeatedly across social media. But it is carried out, at least in part, by humans paid to use their own accounts, though nowhere disclosing their relationship with Turning Point Action or the digital firm brought in to oversee the day-to-day activity. One user included a link to Turning Point USA’s website in his Twitter profile until The Washington Post began asking questions about the activity. In response to questions from The Post, Twitter on Tuesday suspended at least 20 accounts involved in the activity for “platform manipulation and spam.” Facebook also removed a number of accounts as part of what the company said is an ongoing investigation. The effort generated thousands of posts this summer on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, according to an examination by The Post and an assessment by an independent specialist in data science. Nearly 4,500 tweets containing identical content that were identified in the analysis probably represent a fraction of the overall output. The months-long effort by the tax-exempt nonprofit is among the most ambitious domestic influence campaigns uncovered this election cycle, said experts tracking the evolution of deceptive online tactics.

Wildlife experts in New Mexico say birds in the region are dropping dead in alarming numbers, potentially in the "hundreds of thousands." “It appears to be an unprecedented and a very large number,” Martha Desmond, a professor at New Mexico State University’s department of fish, wildlife, and conservation ecology, told NBC’s Albuquerque affiliate KOB. New Mexico residents have reported coming upon dead birds on hiking trails, missile ranges, and other locations.

Smoke from West Coast wildfires turns East Coast skies hazy
    https://www.sfgate.com/california-wildfires/article/West-Coast-wildfires-smoke-East-Coast-NYC-15566741.php
Smoke from multiple wildfires burning across the West Coast reached the East Coast, turning skies everywhere from New York City to Washington, D.C., hazy. "The smoke is swirling clockwise around the high pressure over the Great Basin and then getting caught up in westerly flow east of the Rockies," explained National Weather Service meteorologist Julie Malingowski. "Then it's making its way across the plains to the East Coast. It looks like the smoke, depending on what’s happening with the winds, could be reaching anywhere from the Carolinas to the Northeaster part of the county. It’s hard to tell exactly."

Staggering Number of Hysterectomies Happening at ICE Facility, Whistleblower Says
    https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/93578d/staggering-number-of-hysterectomies-happening-at-ice-facility-whistleblower-say
A whistleblower complaint filed Monday by several legal advocacy groups accuses a detention center of performing a staggering number of hysterectomies on immigrant women, as well as failing to follow procedures meant to keep both detainees and employees safe from the coronavirus. The complaint, filed on behalf of several detained immigrants and a nurse named Dawn Wooten, details several accounts of recent “jarring medical neglect” at the Irwin County Detention Center in Ocilla, Georgia, which is run by the private prison company LaSalle South Corrections and houses people incarcerated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In interviews with Project South, a Georgia nonprofit, multiple women said that hysterectomies were stunningly frequent among immigrants detained at the facility. “When I met all these women who had had surgeries, I thought this was like an experimental concentration camp,” said one woman, who said she’d met five women who’d had hysterectomies after being detained between October and December 2019. The woman said that immigrants at Irwin are often sent to see one particular gynecologist outside of the facility. “It was like they’re experimenting with their bodies.”

Caputo apologizes to HHS staff, signals desire for medical leave
    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/15/michael-caputo-apology-hhs-staff-415206
The health department's top spokesperson Michael Caputo called an emergency staff meeting on Tuesday to apologize for drawing negative attention to the Trump administration's health care strategy and signaled that he might be soon departing his role, according to five people with knowledge of the meeting. The departure of Caputo, who has closely controlled the health agencies' dissemination of information about coronavirus, would be a blow to the Trump administration's efforts to promote a possible vaccine, if one is approved in the fall. Caputo told staffers that his series of false accusations on Facebook Live this weekend — which included unfounded allegations that the Centers for Disease Control was harboring a “resistance unit” — reflected poorly on HHS’ communications office. He blamed his recent behavior on a combination of physical health issues and the toll of fielding death threats against his family. Caputo also acknowledged that he had never read one of the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports, despite his team's ongoing efforts to try to edit those documents. Caputo also disputed anonymous White House criticism about his mental health — saying that some of his comments have been taken out of context — and concluded the meeting by encouraging his staff to listen to music by the Grateful Dead.

How Progressives Built a Campaign Machine … Thanks to the DCCC
    https://prospect.org/api/content/8f71a400-f6d6-11ea-a455-1244d5f7c7c6/
The left has long been criticized for its disorganization. And yet here was a multipronged battalion of independent groups toppling an entrenched incumbent. How did that happen? What brought this growing assemblage of progressive campaign infrastructure together was not the charming principal from New York; it was instead a staggering strategic misstep from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the Democrats’ official recruiting, fundraising, and campaign organizing body in the House. As the 2020 election cycle was getting under way, the DCCC attempted to preempt the new progressive electoral movement before it took off. And it backfired spectacularly. In March 2019, just weeks after the 116th Congress was sworn in, the DCCC issued a formal statement that any firm, consultant, vendor, strategist, or pollster that signed up to work on a primary challenge would be forbidden from receiving any future contracts to work on other DCCC-run races. The DCCC has long been known to be averse to primary challenges; its business is incumbency protection. But this was something different. While the language officially referred to barring vendors from working with any “opponent of a sitting Member of the House Democratic Caucus,” everyone knew it was directed at progressives challenging incumbents from the left. The move was unprecedented and shocking. Progressive primary challenges were hardly an existential threat to Democratic incumbents. The Squad was only a few weeks old, and half of its four members had won in open seats. But the goal was clear: stanch the flow of talent and resources to progressive candidates, fatally wounding their chances to take on sitting members of Congress. The decision, made by DCCC Chair Cheri Bustos and upheld by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, did exactly the opposite. Rather than scatter and isolate progressives, it drove them into collaboration. Exiled from the walled garden of the Democratic establishment, this newly activated pool of strategists, pollsters, campaigners, vendors, email writers, and video makers pulled together to create a self-contained political ecosystem that could challenge incumbents, despite financial limitations and outlaw status. They methodically identified districts where incumbents might be vulnerable, where the voter base had moved left of their representation, and where, with the right strategy, a challenger could compete if these groups all piled in to help. And they did so with a newfound urgency: If they didn’t win, there would be no contracts from other races to tide them over.

This Belle Delphine Bathwater-Cooled PC Can Be Yours for Only $1,500
    https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/qj4993/this-belle-delphine-bathwater-cooled-pc-can-be-yours-for-only-dollar1500
Building a PC is a pain in the ass. Why not just have someone build a PC for you? There’s a ton of services out there that do it, but none do it quite as stylishly as Joshua Wilkinson. For a mere $1,500 you can have a custom built Wilkinson original that features influencer Bella Delphine. The case is plastered in Delphine’s face. Her alleged mugshot is on the front, LEDs with her glare from inside the case, and the system’s liquid cooling pipes run in and out of a little jar said to contain her bathwater. But it’s not an official jar of Bella Delphine bathwater. “I know it’s disappointing,” Josh Wilkinson, the case’s designer, told Motherboard on the phone. “It’s like 400 bucks on Ebay. The more official reason is that these cooling loops, if it was just normal water they wouldn’t hold up after a while.”
