    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/24/the-feds-system-that-allows-banks-to-send-money-back-and-forth-is-down.html
The Federal Reserve’s system that allows financial institutions to send money back and forth electronically went down Wednesday morning. The “operational error,” as the Fed described it, impacted multiple services, including its pivotal automated clearinghouse system, which connects depository and related institutions send electronic credit and debt transfers. There were no initial indications that foul play was suspected.

Savannah Police investigating two social media posts alleging attempts at human trafficking
    https://www.wtoc.com/2021/02/19/savannah-police-investigating-two-social-media-posts-alleging-attempts-human-trafficking/
The Savannah Police Department is investigating two separate social media posts circulating in Savannah that detailed two incidents alleging attempts at human trafficking. In one incident, a woman claims a man, who she believed was a human trafficker, was attempting to distract her at a Savannah gas station so that he could take her children. Officers spoke with the woman and the alleged suspect and determined the incident to be a misunderstanding and not an attempt at human trafficking. Officers learned the alleged suspect was actually a gas station employee who was attempting to tell the woman that the pump she was at was inoperable.

‘Justice League’: The Shocking, Exhilarating, Heartbreaking True Story of #TheSnyderCut
    https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2021/02/the-true-story-of-justice-league-snyder-cut
A demoralizing battle with Warner Bros. A devastating personal tragedy. A fan base he couldn’t control. Zack Snyder tells V.F. why he quit ‘Justice League,’ and why he’s returned to complete a cut that’s reached near-mythical status. Zack Snyder, the director of Justice League, has never seen Justice League. His name is in the credits as the filmmaker, but he’s never sat through the version released to the world three years ago. His wife, Deborah, who produced the movie, advised him not to. In late 2017—months after the couple cut ties with the superhero epic amid an increasingly demoralizing battle with Warner Bros.—Deborah Snyder sat in a screening room on the studio lot alongside Christopher Nolan, one of the movie’s executive producers, as well as the director of the Dark Knight trilogy. She braced herself as the lights went down. “It was just…it’s a weird experience,” she says now. “I don’t know how many people have that experience. You’ve worked on something for a long time, and then you leave, and then you see what happened to it.”

Poundmaker Cree Nation welcomes back bison to traditional territory | CBC News
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/indigenous/poundmaker-cree-nation-bison-1.5925300
For the first time in over a century, plains bison are roaming on Poundmaker Cree Nation territory in Saskatchewan again.  Last Friday community members gathered as a herd of 20 bison were released into a compound. "It was very heartfelt, knowing the importance and significance of the buffalo in traditional and current times," said Jojo Tootoosis, a member of the Poundmaker Cree Nation, about 225 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon. "They tie us to our spirit and to our history and our future." Tootoosis witnessed the release of the bison from the trailer into the 16-hectare compound they will call home.

A Pearl Cast Before Swine: How US Imperialism and Jovenel Moïse Have Strangled Haiti
    https://wearyourvoicemag.com/a-pearl-cast-before-swine-how-us-imperialism-and-jovenel-moise-have-strangled-haiti/
When Jovenel Moïse, the current president of Haiti, was elected in November 2016, no one could pretend as though the United States didn’t have a hand in his victory. Apparently not content to just meddle in the affairs of Brazil, the Obama administration did all they could to install Moïse before the 44th President left office, one last imperialist stain that would quickly be forgotten and hand-waved as Donald Trump thundered his way around the world. There are a number of factors behind the Obama administration’s decision to rig the Haitian election for Moïse—not least of which being the roughly 20 billion dollars in gold, silver, and other precious metals that the country controls—but as protests against the US’s corrupt darling (which started back in 2019) rise to a fever pitch, it almost seems less a question of why the State Department did what it did, and more a recognition that there was no version of history in which they wouldn’t. After all, Moïse is just the latest in a long line of examples of the United States and other Western powers working tirelessly to manipulate and bleed the island nation, which stretches nearly all the way back to the moment its people asserted themselves via the revolution that made Haiti the first Black republic in the Caribbean. Long has the world taught us that the United States—and the other nations which comprise the international cartel it heads—have little tolerance for the independence and sovereignty of countries in the global south, especially those with majority Black populations and the promise of resources beneath their feet. As news networks pay little mind to the protests currently underway, though, it’s clear that this nation has little interest in reckoning with the result of its meddling, which is no fucking surprise.

Twitter is now adding a controversial 'hacked materials' warning label to tweets
    https://mashable.com/article/twitter-hacked-materials-warning-label/
“These materials may have been obtained through hacking,” reads the disclaimer affixed to a tweet linking to a story from independent news outlet, The Grayzone. The tweet was originally posted on Feb. 20. However, three days later, users began to notice the label added to The Grayzone’s tweet. (It is not yet clear when exactly the label appeared.) Furthermore, readers discovered that an extra step was added when trying to retweet posts linking to The Grayzone’s story: A pop-up appeared reiterating the warning label and asking users to “help keep Twitter a place for reliable info.” A link is included which forwards users to Twitter’s “distribution of hacked materials” policy.
