Vice President Harris on Monday pleaded with migrants from Central American countries to stay home in a speech in Guatemala during her first foreign trip.
Harris has the tricky task of reintroducing the United States as a friend and ally to the region while finding ways to reduce migration, which has often been Central America's only social safety valve amid worsening humanitarian conditions.
The vice president was blunt in her message to Central Americans, repeating the line, "Do not come."
To soften the blow, she framed the Biden administration's closed-door policy in a message of hope for the region.
"I want to emphasize that the goal of our work is to help Guatemalans find hope at home. At the same time I want to be clear to folks in this region who are thinking about making that dangerous trek to the United States Mexico border: Do not come, do not come," Harris said.

Atlas Missile silos are a rare piece of real estate in this world. The silo structure took hundreds of millions dollars to build in the 1960's. This one is unique as the Quonset Hut (original storage building) has been converted into a residence. The property is about 8.7 acres and has a 7' chain link fence with gate. Inside the silo it has most of the steel super structures that many of the other silos do not have. If a family wants to have a place safe from any man made or natural disasters this is the place to be. Only a half days drive from many major cities in the north/east or land your helicopter on the reenforced cement slab. All this on the northern tip of the Adirondacks.

Photographer Tony Austin recently captured a peculiar image of a crow with its wings covered in dozens of tiny black ants in the throes of what appeared to be a behaviour he described as a "very odd and violent dirt bath."
The image also captured the imagination of hundreds of devotees of a Facebook group called Picture Perfect Vancouver Island after the Metchosin, B.C., photographer posted it on Monday.
"I'd never seen anything like this," said Austin. "It was odd but exciting behaviour."
Austin was in Victoria's Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary that day, and when a murder of crows landed close to him, he noticed what appeared to be a bird in distress.
His photographic instincts kicked in, and he crouched down to capture a close-up — a chance encounter one bird expert says is quite rare.

Introduction
The morale, discipline and battleworthiness of the U.S. Armed Forces are, with a few salient exceptions, lower and worse than at anytime in this century and possibly in the history of the United States.
By every conceivable indicator, our army that now remains in Vietnam is in a state approaching collapse, with individual units avoiding or having _refused_ combat, murdering their officers and non commissioned officers, drug-ridden, and dispirited where not near mutinous.
Elsewhere than Vietnam, the situation is nearly as serious.
