Why are wrongly-convicted people still imprisoned in Missouri?
    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/why-are-wrongly-convicted-people-still-imprisoned-in-missouri
Prosecutors have called for the release of Kevin Strickland and Lamar Johnson, who have served a combined 70 years in prison for murders they did not commit. And yet, innocence has not earned them their freedom. So, what's going on in the state of Missouri? For more than two decades, Johnson has insisted he was wrongfully convicted. "I did not kill Marcus. He was one of my best friends and I loved him." Two years ago, the top prosecutor for the city of St. Louis, Kim Gardner, agreed with him, and filed a motion for Johnson's release based on what she called "overwhelming evidence of innocence." Yet, Johnson, too, remains behind bars.

    https://www.channel4.com/news/revealed-science-museum-signed-gagging-clause-with-exhibition-sponsor-shell
The Science Museum has signed a gagging clause in its agreement with Shell International to sponsor its climate change exhibition, agreeing to take care not to say anything that could damage the company’s reputation, Channel 4 News has learnt. This programme has exclusively obtained the sponsorship agreement which states the Science Museum and its trustees must take reasonable care “not at any time” during the exhibition term to “make any statement or issue any publicity or otherwise be involved in any conduct or matter that may reasonably be foreseen as discrediting or damaging the goodwill or reputation of the Sponsor”. The oil giant controversially sponsored the museum’s major climate change ‘Our Future Planet’ exhibition which opened in May this year.

Why Managers Fear a Remote-Work Future
    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/07/work-from-home-benefits/619597/
Remote work lays bare many brutal inefficiencies and problems that executives don’t want to deal with because they reflect poorly on leaders and those they’ve hired. Remote work empowers those who produce and disempowers those who have succeeded by being excellent diplomats and poor workers, along with those who have succeeded by always finding someone to blame for their failures. It removes the ability to seem productive (by sitting at your desk looking stressed or always being on the phone), and also, crucially, may reveal how many bosses and managers simply don’t contribute to the bottom line.

How will the West solve a water crisis if climate change continues to get worse?
    https://abcnews.go.com/US/west-solve-water-crisis-climate-change-continues-worse/story?id=78566068
Imagine a world where water is scarce in the West -- or at least stretches of the increasingly hot and dry landscape. A decades-long megadrought spurred by climate change, which has led to alarmingly low reservoir levels in the region, nearing or at records in some cases, add urgency to considering this consideration. The West has more hydrologic variability -- more flood years and drought years per average year -- than any other part of the country, Jay Lund, professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of California, Davis, and the head of the school's Center for Watershed Sciences told ABC News. But a study published in Science Magazine in 2020 warned that the West is exiting an unusually wet time in its history and heading toward an unusually dry time that could last years -- even centuries.
