Ryan Feldman was holding an IV bag when it happened. Something ripped when he pulled the line out and almost an entire bag, with 950 micrograms of liquid inside, spilled and doused his hand in fentanyl. “I was a little annoyed at first,” Feldman told me. “But then I realized: Sometimes in science an accident is an opportunity.” Basically, Feldman realized he had an experiment on his hands—literally.

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. — The suspect in the Highland Park shooting had two previous contacts with law enforcement in the city, including one in which he was reported to have threatened to “kill everyone,” authorities said in a news conference Tuesday. An individual reported to Highland Park police in 2019 that Robert E. Crimo III had attempted suicide, according to Christopher Covelli, a spokesman for the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force. The second incident was in September 2019, when Crimo had threatened to “kill everyone,” according to a family member who reported it to Highland Park police, Covelli said. Police removed 16 knives, a dagger and a sword from Crimo’s residence, Covelli said. At the time, there was no probable cause to arrest him and no complaints were signed by any victims, he said. The Lake County coroner confirmed a seventh death in the Fourth of July parade shooting in Highland Park after the gunman, fired more than 70 rounds with a high-powered rifle at a crowd of bystanders.

Through 127e, the U.S. arms, trains, and provides intelligence to foreign forces. But unlike traditional foreign assistance programs, which are primarily intended to build local capacity, 127e partners are then dispatched on U.S.-directed missions, targeting U.S. enemies to achieve U.S. aims. “The foreign participants in a 127-echo program are filling gaps that we don’t have enough Americans to fill,” a former senior defense official involved with the program told The Intercept. “If someone were to call a 127-echo program a proxy operation, it would be hard to argue with them.”

But the mystery only deepens as Graves recalls the shape of the objects observed by aviators off the East Coast. One of the pilots involved in the 2014 near-collision described the UFO as a dark cube inside of a clear sphere, with no wings or obvious means of propulsion. A few years after the 2014 incident, a test pilot flying in a nearby area told Graves of an encounter with such an object. According to Graves, a cube-in-a-sphere UFO was “just riding along with him,” about 30 feet from the aircraft, before it “zipped off.” More recently, one of Graves’s former student pilots, along with a senior officer, observed one of the objects. As Graves’s former student told him, “They’re still out here. … [The object] looked exactly like what you said, [a] cube in a sphere. They’re still here.” From instructor to student, the UFOs now transcend at least one “generation” of fighter pilots. Nor are the encounters unique to the Navy. While he has not spoken with them directly, Graves is aware of “a number of [Air Force] F-22 crews that are experiencing similar issues.”
