For at least seven decades, the original owner of a three-pack of Sheik condoms was successful in shielding their existence.
The condoms, not yet decriminalized in Canada, had been carefully hidden between the floor joists of a basement in the Old North neighbourhood of London, Ont., an area marked by century-old homes.
Slid behind some well-rusted tools and tins of old nails, the condom pack remained out of sight until it was discovered last week as part of cleanup and renovation work in the basement.

Yolanda Greene’s life is on hold while criminal charges remain pending against her
A St. Louis County nurse was fired from her job after being arrested—even though the police report that provided the basis of the charges against her is clearly contradicted by bystander video.
The woman, 51-year-old Yolanda Greene, still faces three class-A misdemeanors—two for assault on a police officer and one for interfering with an arrest.
“I sent the tape over to [Wesley] Bell’s office and said, ‘You’re prosecuting the wrong people. You should be prosecuting the police for lying in these reports,’” says Mark Pedroli, the attorney for Greene.
The case shows the way that police narratives, which can be hastily written in the aftermath of an incident, can lead to serious repercussions for people involved, even when evidence later show them to be inaccurate. Bell, who was elected as a progressive reformer in the wake of Michael Brown’s death in Ferguson, had pledged to reform the relationship between police and the prosecutor’s office, which he said was so close that it at times presented a conflict of interest. (After defeating U.S. Representative Cori Bush in the Democratic primary last week, Bell is now almost certainly headed to Congress.)
St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney spokesman Chris King tells SLM that despite Pedroli’s claims about the police reports, the charges are warranted.

Disney is trying to get a wrongful death lawsuit filed by a New York University doctor’s grieving husband tossed — because he signed up for the Disney+ streaming service years earlier, court papers said.
Kanokporn Tangsuan’s bereaved widower, Jeffrey Piccolo, is suing the theme park juggernaut, claiming that she suffered a fatal allergic reaction shortly after eating at a Disney Springs restaurant in Florida last October.
But Disney is claiming the $50,000 suit should be moved out of the courts because Piccolo agreed to arbitrate all disputes with the company when he first signed up for a one-month trial of the Disney+ streaming service back in 2019, court documents charge.
