Nine men accused of breaking out of a New Orleans city jail in May after slipping through a hole behind a toilet and scaling a barbed wire fence pleaded not guilty to escape charges on Wednesday.
Officials have repeatedly pointed to video surveillance of the brazen escape, one of the largest jailbreaks in recent U.S. history, and vowed to bring the inmates to justice. A 10th inmate, Derrick Groves, a convicted killer, is the lone fugitive still on the run.
“Everyone is entitled to due process. But there’s a video of these detainees running out of the jail in the middle of the night. They were not heading to court hearings,” Attorney General Liz Murrill said on Wednesday. ”We will continue to hold everyone accountable for the escape.”

Electric bikes are a menace. They go almost as fast as a car (if the car is parking), they’re whisper quiet (which makes them impossible to hear over the podcast playing in your headphones), and worst of all, they’re increasingly ridden by teenagers.
By now, we’ve all seen the headlines. Cities are cracking down. Lawmakers are holding emergency hearings. Parents are demanding bans. “Something must be done,” they cry at local city council meetings before driving back home in 5,000 lb SUVs.
And it’s true – some e-bike riders don’t follow the rules. Some ride too fast. Some are inexperienced. These are real problems that deserve real solutions. But if you think electric bikes are the biggest threat on our roads, just wait until you hear about the slightly more common, slightly more deadly vehicle we’ve been quietly tolerating for the last hundred years.

The founder of SaaS business development outfit SaaStr has claimed AI coding tool Replit deleted a database despite his instructions not to change any code without permission.
SaaStr runs an online community and events aimed at entrepreneurs who want to create SaaS businesses. On July 12th company founder Jason Lemkin blogged about his experience using a service called “Replit” that bills itself as “The safest place for vibe coding” – the term for using AI to generate software.
...His mood shifted the next day when he found Replit “was lying and being deceptive all day. It kept covering up bugs and issues by creating fake data, fake reports, and worse of all, lying about our unit test.”
